We’ve made it friends! The end is near! Don’t get too sad, I am in planning on working on some facebook live videos to discuss different components of Guided Reading! I would love for you to list any questions or things you would like to see in the comments!
In this post, we are going to discuss struggling readers. We all have them, and while you are drowning in RTI documents, don’t forget that you can do some of that in your guided reading time!
Richardson uses four steps to determine the issue of a struggling student. I know having a colleague coming to observe seems impossible at times, but even a counselor or coach could be a huge help to identify issues.
In the text, Richardson gives you a problem solving chart for each type of reader! I would paraphrase, but it is just worth it to buy the book for that! With this chart, you can develop a plan for RTI or an intervention plan for your students. Before you can come up with a plan, you have to analyze what the student is struggling with.

I created this sheet to use when working on the two week problem solving areas for my students. I will use this in my Guided Reading Binder. It is simple, easy, and gives tons of space for notes. You can click on the picture to grab it FREE or get it here!
Mandy will be finishing up the rest of the chapter for Transitional Readers! Click on the chapters below to visit the other blog posts!
I just said the same thing on Mandy's page… but I just finished all of the blog posts on this book. Thank you so much for all of the hard work you put into this… and sharing so many wonderful resources. I really appreciate the 2 of you for doing this!
