My hard worker caddy is something that I use everyday. I talked a little bit about it here over at the Primary Peach but I wanted to show you a little more of what is in the caddy. To me, it is an essential resource that I must have to make it through the week.
When I notice students are not working as hard, or chatting a lot, I say, “I am looking for the hardest worker today to get the Hard Worker Caddy tomorrow” and they perk right up! You see, this isn’t just an ordinary caddy. It is filled with all of those things mom and dad didn’t want to buy them! Mr. Sketch markers, twistable crayons, colored pencils, fancy scissors, and glitter glue are some of the special items the person with the caddy gets to use.
The student also gets 5-10 minutes of free drawing or letter writing time to leave me a note in the journal. I do try and switch it up so all of them get the caddy, but I also let students get the caddy more than once. It is a great positive incentive for all students and I want to purchase $50.00 worth of supplies for you to start your own caddy!
